We had such a fun time looking for secret doors and looking at all of the different themes and items. We spent about an hour and 45 minutes, early on a Saturday morning. We were able to find metered street parking close by and all around had a great day. I would suggest going early before it gets too busy. With too many people, I think it would spoil some of the secret doors :) ”

“Our docent Bronte was phenomenal. Our daughter lost her lovey/stuffy while she was caught up in the excitement of the wondrous world of the O Museum. We realized after we'd gone to lunch nearby. Bronte helped us search multiple floors rapidly, asking guests to keep their eye out for our lovey, too! We encountered the lovely housekeeper Daisy in the elevator, and she had seen our lovey, and stashed him in an employee only area to help us find him. We could not be more grateful to Bronte and Daisy, they were so kind and helpful. Everybody else we encountered in reception, at the bar, etc. was also warm, friendly and helpful. We had such a great time here, and found 16 secret doors, so we'll need to return to find many more! This is such a cool place, with so many interesting things to see and experience. Truly, one of DC's best secrets. I've lived in the area for over 20 years, and only found the O Museum in The Mansion recently, and we are already planning our next trip! Thank you so much for your kindness, empathy, and welcoming, helpful attitudes.Walkability: There are restaurants within a few blocks that are wonderful. Dupont Circle is also close for access via the metro.”

We were there for 1.5 hours but I think we could have easily spent double that amount of time exploring and we could have found a lot more secret doors with more time. I would say to allot 3 hours minimum for an optimal experience without feeling rushed.”

There are dozens of rooms with little hidden nooks, rooms and literal secret passages with lots of pulp culture and American history spread all over the place. Everything from The Beatles to Rosa Parks to comic book heroes. It's just wild!There's no doubt that it can be overwhelming at times and some of the passageways can be narrow so you may have to let go of some personal space issues if you have them. But there is just so much cool stuff it really "must visit" spot in DC.Keep in mind that it is an active hotel so rooms may or may not be available to explore but this place really is fun.One gripe I have is that because of where it's at around 19th Street parking can be a bit of a pain in the butt so plan ahead for that. The staff was wonderful, friendly and very informative. This place is a lot of fun.”

That said, for a first time visit, it's probably not necessary to do the add-ons especially since I had to pay x6 which increased the cost a fair bit. There's definitely enough to see and searching to do without adding on. For a second, third or fourth visit (and that would be fun to do!) adding on some of the other tours would enhance the visit. I'm so glad we stumbled onto this. I was looking for something fun to do with the children and this hit the mark for sure.”
